Modern Meditteranean inspired family home

The brief and the vision

Curved forms are introduced throughout the home, softening transitions and bringing a sense of continuity across each space. This is most evident in the handmade brickwork... a defining feature that wraps around the home, elevating the design through warmth and texture. Crafted from natural clay, these bricks offer a timeless quality, designed to endure both structurally and aesthetically.

Arrival has been carefully considered. A 1200mm wide blonde oak entry door sets a confident tone, opening into interiors where honey ironbark vinyl planks carry warmth consistently throughout the home. The material palette is restrained, allowing each element to feel intentional and timeless.

Scope

Designed by Studio Sora & Built By Pacific Blue

Set across a flat, uniquely shaped site, Mill Road is a modern Meditteranean home defined by cohesive selections, materiality, and distinction. Existing mature hedging has been carefully retained and utilised, creating a natural boundary that enhances both privacy and presence from the street.

At the centre, the kitchen balances refinement with everyday functionality. Taj Mahal stone benchtops are paired with Boston oak cabinetry, creating a calm and cohesive workspace. Integrated storage and concealed power points ensure practicality is seamlessly embedded within the design. A half arched opening leads through to a full butler’s pantry, mirroring the materiality of the main kitchen while expanding its usability.

Living spaces flow naturally outward, connecting to an expansive outdoor entertaining area. Here, the handmade brick continues, meeting natural travertine... a material transition that feels calm, yet distinctive. This space extends toward a design driven arched pool, completing the home’s outdoor experience with a sense of cohesion.

Lighting has been layered throughout, with LED feature lighting introducing a quieter, more ambient atmosphere when overhead lighting is not required. These moments allow the home to shift naturally from evening to wind down.

The main bedroom is intentionally separated, offering a private retreat within the home. A generous walk in robe and ensuite with a full double shower are complemented by skylights, allowing natural light while maintaining complete privacy.

All spaces have been resolved with equal care... the laundry is positioned for ease of access, flowing directly outdoors to function as a mudroom when needed. A practical response to daily life that integrates seamlessly into the overall plan. Mill Road is a home shaped by considered decisions, where form, material, and function are aligned. The result is a space that feels calm, timeless, and distinctive.
